Case study
A property business got a full analytics dashboard without buying reporting software for every user
No per-user licences
Full dashboard functionality without paying for software seats
Automatic
Updates run on a schedule with no manual steps
The situation
The business needed proper reporting across its portfolio: performance, occupancy and financial position, in one place, with the ability to filter and drill into detail. The obvious route was standard business reporting software, but that means buying a licence for every person who needs to look at it. For a small team that cost was hard to justify for what was, in the end, a handful of screens.
What we built
A custom dashboard delivered as a web page, with the same interactivity people expect from commercial reporting tools. Clicking one chart filters the others. Any figure can be opened up to see the detail behind it. The data refreshes automatically on a schedule with nobody pressing anything.
Because it is a web page rather than a licensed product, anyone with the link can use it and there are no per-user costs as the team grows.
Built with React and D3 for the interface, Python for the data processing, and an automated pipeline that rebuilds and publishes the site on a schedule.
The result
The team has the reporting they needed with no ongoing software licences, and the dashboard can be extended as the portfolio changes without any change to what it costs to run.
