How we work
No surprises, at any stage
Most people who come to us have been burned before. Something was built, it half worked, then whoever built it moved on and nobody could maintain it. Here is exactly how we avoid that.
We start by understanding your business, not your systems
The first conversation is about how you actually work. What decisions get delayed. Where people are spending hours on something repetitive. What question you wish you could answer but cannot.
The technology comes later, and only once we know what it is for. We will also tell you at this stage if we think the answer is simpler and cheaper than what you came to us for.
We agree scope and cost before anything begins
You get a written proposal covering exactly what we will build, what it will cost, how long it will take, and what is explicitly not included.
We quote by the project, not by the hour. There are no open-ended bills and no invoices that grow while the work is underway. If the scope needs to change partway through, we agree that with you first, in writing.
We start small and prove it works
Wherever possible we begin with one contained piece of work that produces something real and useful on its own.
This is not a demo or a prototype. It is a working thing, running in your business, that keeps working whether or not you do anything further with us. If it delivers, we talk about what comes next. If it does not, you have found out quickly and cheaply.
We build in the open
You see progress as it happens rather than at the end. Short regular check-ins, working versions you can look at and react to, and no long silences.
When something turns out harder than expected, you hear it that week, not in the final report.
We hand over properly
Everything we build belongs to you. The code, the documentation, the accounts, the logins, all of it.
We write things down so your team, or any other consultant, can pick it up and understand it. We will walk your people through how it works and how to change it. This is included, not an extra.
We stay if you want us to
Most clients move onto a monthly arrangement afterwards, covering maintenance, new reports and automations as they come up, and someone to call when a number looks wrong.
This is optional, always. It exists because it is useful, not because we have made it hard to manage without us.
Your data stays yours
We work under signed agreements and non-disclosure agreements as standard. Where you prefer it, we work inside your own systems and accounts rather than moving anything to ours, so your data never leaves your control. We are happy to work within whatever security requirements your business or your customers have.
